Korda: Man is the end of evolution

A few ‘silent ones’ from the Public Prosecution Service were in Amsterdam’s Paradiso on Wednesday night to make sure that no one would commit suicide during the performance of suicide preacher and house musician Chris Korda. They shared the half-filled hall with many journalists, photographers and camera crews.

A better audience is hard to come by for someone who exposes the voyeurism of the mass media. How was shown on a screen several metres high in Paradiso at the end of the concert: the infamous video clip I like to watch shows images of the collapsing WIC towers, cut up with men ejaculating in women’s faces and flashes of sports matches.

Korda conjures up infectious techno and electro from his laptop for over an hour, and manages to get part of the audience moving, who have to dance around the photographers and cameramen. In the meantime, Korda shows hilarious footage of the counter-demonstrations that he and his followers hold in Boston at protests by Christian anti-abortion action groups. There he walks with signs with texts such as: ‘Eat a homosexual fetus for Jesus’ and ‘Fuck Breeding’.

The audience doesn’t seem particularly fazed and everyone turns out to be alive at the end. Then half the audience walks to Korda’s press conference in the basement. Like an American televangelist, Korda uses clear slogans to present the radical pagan ideology of his Church of Euthanasia. “The way people are behaving now means that they are the end of evolution. With the industrialization of the last two hundred years, a holocaust has been wreaked among animals. Every forty minutes, a species of animal dies out. If the number of people on earth is not brought back to a balance with the other species, humanity will eventually die out and life will be gone altogether.” For this reason, he provides information about suicide on his website.

Korda: “The Church of Euthanasia is for people who realize that they are collaborating in the destruction of life and are ashamed of it.”
