Chris Korda – Passion for Numbers (Mental Groove, LP/digital)

»Passion for Numbers« is a piano album on which Chris Korda does not play the piano. Instead, the eight pieces were created with the help of the Polymeter MIDI Sequencer programmed by Korda. As the name already suggests, this material consists of complex polymetric structures that borrow the sound aesthetics of the piano instead of relying on electronic sounds—Korda is not exclusively, but primarily active in the field of dance music. Not only in rhythmic terms is the result of this experiment wonderfully convoluted. There are also constantly new tonal tensions emerging that create con-fusion in the best sense of that word.
