The French nuclear testing on Muroroa and Fangataufa is an abomination, and must be stopped. We call for a Jihad, a holy war of propaganda. Let there be demonstration, disruption, and DADA. Let President Chirac's ears ring with shouts of protest. Let the French people set an example of compassion for all other nations. We ask each and every one of you to send a fax to the French Consulate, and if you are a U.S. citizen, to the Whitehouse as well. Dear Consul, According to an ancient Hopi prophecy, "A gourd of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans." The "gourd of ashes" is the nuclear weapon, and its use is one of the signs of the Great Purification, along with climate change, increases in the frequency and severity of "natural disasters," and loss of species including the beaching of whales. Though we have already poisoned the air and water, desecrated many sacred places, and destroyed one-third of the species on this living planet, Humans may still prove capable of restraint; the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is a symbol of this faint hope. We pray that the French will seek the path of enlightenment, and demonstrate their respect for this treaty, by immediately cancelling the nuclear weapons tests on Moruroa. Dear President Clinton, [same as above] In part due to your efforts, the United States has taken many small steps towards violating the NPT, even while publicly upholding it. The resumption of French testing could easily provide an excuse for the United States to abandon the treaty entirely. We urge you to renew America's commitment to the NPT, by personally telephoning President Chirac to persuade him to cancel the tests. |
