Voyeurism and the tragedy of September 11

Wednesday, 11.12.2002.

American artist Chris Korda believes that the "Twin Towers" are a metaphor for the penis, and their collapse represents a spectacular ejaculation

The video I Like to Watch shows the brutally suppressed sexual energy that is on the surface of the images from the news program. Karlheinz Stockhausen says the attacks were the greatest work of art the world has ever seen. Korda is a priest of the Church for Euthanasia, whose official slogan is Save the Planet, Kill Yourself. The pillars of the Church are: suicide, abortion, cannibalism and sodomy

It is believed that voyeurism has long become a major feature of interpersonal relationships. Today, everyone wants to know what you do, from the way you like to make love to what you do in the bathroom. You can't run away from anyone anymore. The world has become one small village where all doors are secretly open. Voyeurism has always existed, but today it has received an official license through technology. With the advent of web cams, your intimates leave the private room and conquer curious looks that are getting bored. But even before web cams, cameras appeared, those little monsters that record everything and anything and whose voyeuristic streak was already celebrated by the famous show Hidden Camera, which has been showing up on small screens around the world since the seventies. Although characterized as unethical, sugary peeking behind someone's door, the show has taken on terrifying proportions today, its main target being human misfortune that you can watch live on your small screens.

Voyeurism, many will say, has always been the favorite of the media, who probably know what people like the most and give them that pleasure every day. This attitude is also shared by the controversial American artist Chris Korda, who recorded a four-minute video music video I Like to Watch, a parody of the media coverage of the events of September 11 last year, the famous day when two suicide planes crashed into New York's Twin Towers. The whole world followed the entire course of events live.

After the first plane crashed into the skyscraper, many people immediately rushed with their amateur cameras to record this incredible scene, and the media began to follow the ongoing disaster live. The attackers were obviously well aware of the quick reaction of the media, so they waited a few moments for everyone to join the show before sending another plane. Live war. Voyeurism at the highest level, shouts Korda.

Korda's video I Like to Watch witnesses about it and compares the media bombardment of such events with porn movies and sports. Between the pictures about the demolition of skyscrapers, sports news and inserts of porno-films, which mostly show cum in the mouth while the average American happily enjoys what he sees, alternately appear.

"The video shows the brutally suppressed sexual energy that is on the surface of the images we see on the news. So, I'm talking about excessive media coverage of these attacks and I think it's official entertainment for the masses, different in content but not in form from media coverage of sports and pornography" said Korda about the video for Up Magasin.

According to him, the tragedy of September 11 has a significant sexual dimension, which he also wanted to show. "That video shows exactly what I felt watching the recordings of that day. I don't think I'm the only person who saw a sexual form watching the two American towers explode, but I'm probably the only one who will admit something like that. I agree with Karlheinz Stockhausen (considered the father of modern electronic music, op.a.) when he says that the attacks were the greatest work of art the world has ever seen. However, I think he forgot about the sexual connotation of that attack" said Korda.

He believes that the constant media repetition and rewinding of the image of the plane crashing into the tower has an incredible pornographic aspect, especially with the flames and pieces flying into the air, which the television showed with very light movements.

"It was obvious that the skyscrapers resembled a penis, and their collapse was reminiscent of the ejection of sperm after an erection" observed Korda. According to him, the aspect of political injustice is clearly expressed in the video, as is the voyeurism characteristic of mass society. The song from the video, with an electronic sound background, is more than characteristic:

I like to watch/While the plane attacks/Shoots out flames/But it's just a big ball of fire/A shot of money/I like to watch/People are suffocating in the street/While I'm sitting on my ass/ And I'm playing with my penis/And now my hands are dirty/And I can't find a cloth/I think I'll have to get an American flag/To wipe myself/I like to watch/.

"That film is a sly satire that represents my personal disgust and disagreement with the great ugliness of the modern industrial world" explains Korda. Although it was characterized as anti-American, the video was not censored. There is no doubt that everyone is already used to this controversial American. Korda is also the founder of the Church for Euthanasia, the world's only anti-human religion, as he likes to say. It is, in fact, a non-profit organization that aims to redress the balance between humans and other non-human species through their voluntary population reduction. The official slogan of the church is Save the planet, kill yourself through one of the four pillars of the Church: suicide, abortion, cannibalism and sodomy.

"We took these actions because they seem to be the only useful ones at the moment. The world population will decrease anyway. Well, now, we have a choice between letting things continue as they are or going it alone and reducing the population through our advice. At this time, the number of the world's population will rise to eight billion by 2020. If you look carefully, our ecosystem will never withstand it, and the consequences will be hunger, wars and chaos on a level that we cannot even imagine now. That's why we invite people to choose other ways instead of violence, so that a planetary disaster does not occur" Korda believes.

The number of members of the Church is increasing every day, and all of them have sworn that they will never have children in order not to increase the disaster. Most of them are all homosexuals, bisexuals, and Korda himself is a transsexual, which adds to one of the four pillars through which people cannot reproduce.

The video "I Like to Watch" is just one of a large number of video and audio works by priest Korda, and apart from his engaging aspect against media propaganda, political injustice and voyeurism, the video has another vision that, as Korda said, people are stupid and that's why there should be less of them. However, when asked why he doesn't kill himself, Korda said that he often thinks about it, but that he thinks that then no one will be able to present his ideas if there are no other like-minded people. Of course…
