The man of the future
Electro activist, Chris Korda campaigns against the "straight world order". His clip, mixing images of September 11 and facial cumshots, is a must-see. Encounter.
While capital has swallowed, recycled and reinjected into the market, in packaging, all the forms of countercultural resistance that have been attempted to oppose it over the last fifty years (beat generation, Blaxploitation, feminism, gay activism, punk movement , hip-hop, techno culture...), it is pleasing to see that there are not only crazy people left in this world. Sorry, J2M, George "Dubya" Bush and other tyrants of inhumane Western democracy, we still have to count on real good pure-blooded weirdos, nihilists, anti-patriarchy, anti-good feelings, rapists of nuclear families, pathologically upset by prison that we have built for ourselves. “Reverend” Chris Korda is one of them. In his forties, with disorderly baldness, an elfin face and eyes too open to the world around us, the frail engineer from Boston is one of the underground figures of electronic music. The boy is also into transgenderism, cross-dressing, all that... Because, obviously, he is not so proud to belong to the caste of heterosexual men that governs the world, Chris has also been Chrissy since he was 18. "But I'm neither trans nor gay! Well, I tried... I lived in Provincetown, among drag queens, but gays behave in ways similar to those of basic straight people. And then most of the guys I picked up in Chrissy were just looking to get a quick blow job. In fact, I feel quite lesbian." So Chris finds excuses to put on a dress... In 1992, he founded the Church of Euthanasia, a philosophical-cynical group preaching the drastic reduction of the population in order to preserve what remains of our Mother Earth. "We are probably the first active anti-humanist Church! continues Chris. We are not green; ecology is the vain good conscience of the Western world. We advocate voluntary depopulation thanks to the four pillars of the Church - abortion, cannibalism, suicide, sodomy -, in order to restore the balance between human and non-human species. But we do not defend war, murder or any deadly violence: as a Church, we are against suffering, unless it is. knowingly self-inflicted..." Far from being enlightened, the hard core of the Church of Euthanasia would rather be a group of sadomasochistic and intellectual computer scientists, fatalistic post-dadaists and old goth-punks always ready to make kids' nonsense. The enemy? The white, patriarchal world order that has enslaved the earth to satisfy manufactured needs by the servile Western middle class. The weapons? Decadent activism (with giant banners, grotesque wild demonstrations or baroque TV show squats) and musical highlights. Chris Korda, like Miss Kittin, has been part of the successful Bavarian label Gigolo Records since 1997. His latest opus (images opposite), I like to watch, is a five-minute clip where, in an "artisacrade" montage, images of September 11 and hysterical facial cumshots are linked together, all to the rhythm of Chris's electro-boogaloo. Lyrically, it's straightforward: "I like to watch the plane going in, I like to watch the flames shooting out; people dive into the street while I sit on my ass"... Useless, though, to look for this title in your record store: "Since it was put online, there have already been more than 100,000 downloads, but no producer dares to release it... not even in Europe."
