AMSTERDAM (ANP) - The Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam is investigating whether criminal offences will be committed during the Church of Euthanasia, next week in Paradiso. This was stated by the press officer of the prosecutor M. Bloos on Friday.
The religious group of American DJ Chris Korda is against the multiplication of the human race and promotes suicide, euthanasia and cannibalism. Member of Parliament Rouvoet of the Christian Union asked Minister Donner of Justice about the Church of Euthanasia this week. In the council committee General Affairs in Amsterdam, CDA member H. Res followed suit and asked mayor Cohen to ban the meeting.
Do not ban
The show has the attention of Cohen and the Public Prosecution Service, but they are not yet considering banning the Church of Euthanasia. According to a spokeswoman for Cohen, the mayor could only do this based on expected public order problems and that is not the case. The Public Prosecution Service will intervene if criminal acts are committed, but has no indications that this will be the case.
The performance is scheduled for Wednesday in Paradiso. In the former church, they are not thinking about canceling. "As far as we are concerned, the performance will continue," said a spokesperson.
According to Paradiso, the commotion about the performance is limited to politics and the media and the public is hardly bothered by Korda. The Church of Euthanasia is not yet a crowd puller. Paradiso sold twelve tickets in advance until Friday.
